Good health resolutions

Good health resolutions

How many times have we decided to change our bad lifestyle habits to healthier and healthier ones? Surely the majority answer is “many times”. At some point in our lives we have made resolutions such as “on January 1st I stop smoking”, or “after Christmas I go on a diet”. With this article, we want to give you the basic tips to lead a healthy life and have a good state of health.

How to achieve good health

To achieve a good state of health, it is necessary to eat a specific diet. First, food and nutrition are two different concepts. Nowadays it must be taken into account that the individual can eat properly, but not be properly nourished. In addition, the nutrients we need to be healthy can vary due to different factors, such as age, the physiological state of the individual and the time of year

.

We start from the fact that what is essential for good nutrition is to achieve a good, varied and complete diet (where the Mediterranean diet is still an important reference). A healthy, balanced and varied diet can provide the nutrients our body needs to develop and maintain good health, according to official recommendations today. To do this, apart from choosing the right food, we must:

  • Maintain good hydration.
  • Avoid the use of alcohol and tobacco. They worsen our health at different levels, in addition to accelerating the bodys natural aging process
  • .
  • Engage in regular physical activity. It will improve your physical condition, as well as your health and self-esteem
  • .
  • Avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Do not use the elevator whenever you can, walk instead of using the car, do your leisure activities outdoors…
  • Get enough sleep, as tiredness affects concentration and prevents us from carrying out our daily activities efficiently.
  • Relax and avoid stressful situations on a daily basis.

However, the current pace of life and habits keep us away from this lifestyle and, therefore, from good nutrition and good health.

Focusing on nutrition, it can be difficult for us to dedicate enough time to have a good breakfast, buy quality fresh products or prepare a well-prepared main meal, so we end up turning to fast food, industrial products that are prepared quickly in the microwave, etc. In addition, the The foods we buy may be scarce in the vitamins and minerals that they have traditionally contained in large quantities, due to industrial production and the intensive use of cultivated fields. If this is not your case, we would like to sincerely congratulate you.

But the statistics speak for themselves, and the incorporation of dietary supplements to support proper nutrition can be highly recommended, according to the recent study carried out by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics 1.

Current nutrition studies remind us that it is necessary to consider dietary supplements in certain situations 2:

“... Recent evidence has shown that suboptimal vitamin levels, even well above those that cause deficiency syndromes, are associated with an increased risk of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and osteoporosis…”

“... a large proportion of the general population has an intake of several vitamins and nutrients in less than optimal amounts, exposing them to a higher risk of disease…”

“... it seems prudent for adults to take vitamin supplements…”

Food supplements, keys to maintaining a healthy body

Food supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients that have a nutritional and/or physiological effect on the body. Nowadays, we have high-quality and effective supplements available at our fingertips, which provide effective and very convenient help at different stages of life, for different population groups and also in intense activities or in limiting situations, because they can help our body to achieve an optimal level of well-being. Nowadays it is very easy to supplement nutrition with products of the highest quality and totally safe. If you are unable to comply with all of the nutritional advice mentioned above, you may want to consider adding a certain dietary supplement to your diet to cover the nutritional deficiencies you have at that

time.

It is not necessary to create new needs, but to cover existing ones, and always consult with your health specialist who can advise you on the best option. As we have mentioned before, the nutrients we need to maintain a good state of health vary depending on the individuals age, physiological state and time of year. The winter diet should be based on more caloric foods that strengthen our immune system. On the other hand, spring is a good time to eat lighter and purifying foods. The same applies to the individuals age, where younger people will need more energy than adults, and with people who have a health problem, who will need a specific diet. Each individual may need a certain dietary supplement depending on the time at which they are.

Some recommendations for dietary supplements would be:

  • If your dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids is not enough and you suffer from a cardiovascular problem, providing supplements based on these fatty acids can help maintain a healthy vascular system.
  • Include probiotics that help maintain intestinal flora.
  • If the diet we eat is not adequate, incorporate the minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that may be deficient in the diet we eat. For example, vitamin C to strengthen the immune system, and vitamin D3 and K2 to strengthen our bones
  • .
  • Incorporate medicinal plants traditionally used in diverse cultures to help control stress, which “oxidizes” us and causes us so much harm.

And so on and on. Because supplements like these can help our body maintain an optimal level of well-being.

Therefore, what we must aim for in order to enjoy a good state of health is to remain as active as possible both physically and mentally, to consolidate relationships with friends and family, and to eat a varied, healthy and balanced diet, including those dietary supplements that are necessary at all times. Of course, from time to time we can give ourselves the odd whim, life is meant to be enjoyed! And there is no healthier person than one who is happy.
