MicoVital ® Chaga is a food supplement based on the sterile heads of wild chaga (Inonotus obliquus), a rich source of polysaccharides (beta-glucans) and triterpenes,
with antioxidant capacity.
The product is available in two formats: capsules with the dry extract and in bottles with the liquid extract.
For both types of organic chaga extract, only the sterile chaga heads are used. They are extracted with ultrasound assisted technology (UAE), and with hot water and alcohol. With this innovative extraction method, we are able to maximize the bioavailability of the compounds of interest found in chaga
.
With Nordic Mushrooms seal.
MicoVital ® Chaga — Dry extract in capsules
In addition to wild chaga extract, it contains zinc, selenium and copper, which contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system and to the protection of cells against oxidative damage
MicoVital ® Chaga — Liquid extract
It contains only the liquid chaga extract in a convenient presentation: 50 ml bottle. It can be taken by adding it to coffee, tea or smoothies, or directly sublingually
.
Ideal to start the day and enjoy its high antioxidant level.
Although until a few years ago fungi were classified as vegetables, today they are considered to constitute an independent kingdom of equal rank as animals and plants. With a high nutritional profile of proteins, micronutrients and important bioactive compounds, they are an important nutritional tool for taking care
of our health.
They represent an important source of biologically active polysaccharides in fruiting bodies or in some cases sterile heads. Most of these polysaccharides belong to the beta-glucan group; they have beta- (1—>3) bonds in the glucan backbone and additional beta- (1—>6) branch points that are responsible for the properties of these
medicinal fungi.
In the MicoVital ® line of medicinal mushrooms, we only use the fruiting bodies of fungi, using birch bark from the forests of Finland as a substrate. As an exception, we have the Chaga mushroom, which is collected from birch trees in the forests of Finnish Lapland and whose sterile heads are used, and the Cordiceps, which is a fungus that concentrates the compounds of interest in the mycelium.
Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) is an innovative extraction technique that significantly improves the performance of compounds of interest in the final extract
.
During extraction, mechanical vibrations are sent through the liquid suspension that cause enormous pressure flows on or within small areas located in the liquid suspension.
This causes what is known as acoustic or ultrasonic cavitation, which forms small pressure bubbles on the surface of the mushroom cells present in the solvent; these eventually implode or “collapse”, causing an opening in the cell wall of the fungus and exposing the internal constituents to the solvent of the extract.
In this way, the UAE is similar to a key that “opens the treasure chest” enclosed within the walls of fungal cells, easily releasing compounds of interest and optimizing extraction.
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus), also known as a charcoal nose or barren head, is a parasitic fungus on birch and other trees. The sterile head is irregularly shaped and has the appearance of burnt charcoal. It contains a number of compounds of interest, mainly beta-glucans and triterpenes such as betulinic acid and inotodiol, to which its health properties are attributed.
Wild chaga is not easy to collect. In addition to accessibility problems, we must add the delay in reaching the processing facilities from the places where it is collected, a factor that can affect the loss of nutrients or the possibility of contamination. Our chaga comes from certified organic forests, where it is collected and transported with very strict standards to ensure quality
.
And soon, thanks to the efforts of the Finnish government and forest owners, who have established a program designed to ensure the sustainability of birch forests and ensure the supply of chaga and to which our supplier has been affiliated for years, it will be possible to start collecting cultivated chaga.
The fungus is planted on trees that would otherwise be felled, but will now remain in the forest for about 20 more years. Once the mushroom is planted, it takes 5 to 8 years for the sterile head to be harvested
