ProbiTec ® Children is a dietary supplement from the ProbiTec® line, a formula that combines patented probiotic strains (FloraActive ®: Lactobacillus reuteri 12246 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus 19070-2), with vitamin D3 and fructooligosaccharides (FOS). These bacteria have been isolated and characterized from healthy babies at Copenhagen University Hospital, with more than 20 years of clinical experience studying these probiotics
.
As in other products in the ProbiTec ® line, different strains are combined with other ingredients that complete their function.
ProbiTec ® Children combine probiotics with vitamin D because this vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the immune system of children, in addition to contributing to the optimal development of
teeth and bones.
In this way, with a single product you can obtain the benefits of both ingredients.
Probiotics are defined by the World Health Organization as “living microorganisms that, when administered in adequate quantities, confer a health benefit to the host”.
The human body is inhabited by trillions of microorganisms that constitute what is called the human microbiome. These microorganisms populate the skin, the oropharynx, the gastrointestinal tract, the genitourinary tract and breast tissue, among others, although the highest concentration of microbes is located in the intestine. In the digestive tract alone, we have between 1 and 2 kg of bacteria, which represent about 100 trillion microorganisms.
Probiotics are divided into different genera based on morphology, the mode of glucose fermentation, growth at different temperatures, lactic acid production, and tolerance to acidic
media.
One of the best-known genera is Lactobacillus. They are called Lactobacillus because of the ability of these bacteria to convert lactose and other sugars into lactic acid. The acidic environment provided by lactic acid inhibits the overgrowth and/or appearance of some non-beneficial bacteria. They are found in the small intestine and in the vagina. Many of these species are present in unpasteurized fermented foods, such as yogurt, sauerkraut, sourdough, etc.
During the early stages of life, the process of colonization and establishment of the microbiota takes place. The type of delivery and feeding in the early years are very important, since they influence their formation and development. An adequate population of bacteria facilitates, among other functions, digestive development and the normal absorption of nutrients.
Vitamin D is an essential fat-soluble vitamin in our body. We can obtain it in two ways: on the skin through the action of the ultraviolet rays of sunlight or through the digestive tract through the intake of foods that contain it. Vitamin D is necessary for the normal functioning of the immune system of children, in addition to contributing to the optimal development of teeth and bones.
The products in the ProbiTec ® line include patented probiotic strains (FloraActive ®), with documented efficacy and produced with Cryogenic® technology. Cryogenic ® is a protective technology that minimizes cell damage and optimizes the integrity of probiotics during handling, storage and ingestion.
