ProbiTec ® Pregnancy and Lactation combines probiotics and omega-3, two interesting nutrients in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Three patented probiotic strains (FloraActive ®) are included: Bifidobacterium lactis (32269), Lactobacillus reuteri (12246) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus (19070-2).
Omega-3 is found in a separate blister pack.
A microalgae extract with a high concentration of DHA has been chosen. Really interesting is the contribution of the novel PL+ technology, which coats the extract with phospholipids from Antarctic krill, thus improving bioavailability, increasing the degree of dispersion and solubilization in the gastrointestinal tract and stimulating
lymphatic transport.
Probiotics are living microorganisms that reside in the gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics are divided into different genera based on morphology, the mode of glucose fermentation, growth at different temperatures, the configuration of lactic acid production, and acid and alkaline tolerance.
They are called Lactobacillus because of the ability of these bacteria to convert lactose and other sugars into lactic acid. The acidic environment inhibits the growth of some harmful bacteria. Some species, such as Lactobacilus acidophilus, L. gasseri, L. rhamnosus, produce hydrogen peroxide. They are found in the small intestine and vagina. Many species are used in fermented foods, such as yogurt, cabbage, and pasta, etc.
They are saccharolytic organisms that produce acetic acid and lactic acid without generating CO2. They are found in newborns and can be isolated from the feces of breastfed babies, but they also play an important role in adult flora. To date, 30 species of bifidobacteria have been isolated, including the probiotic species B. bifidum, B. animalis, B. breve, B. longum, B. infantis and B. lactis. Bifidobacteria significantly outperform lactobacilli in the intestine. Many appear to be able to synthesize B and K vitamins. Most bifidobacteria are named after where they were isolated.
The products in the ProbiTec ® line include patented probiotic strains (FloraActive ®), with documented efficacy and produced with Cryogenic® technology. Cryogenic ® is a protective technology that minimizes cell damage and optimizes the integrity of probiotics during handling, storage and ingestion.
Omega-3 is a long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid, an essential fatty acid that our body is unable to synthesize and must be obtained through diet or dietary supplements throughout our lives. Long-chain omega-3 sources such as EPA and DHA include krill, oily fish and some algae (DHA only). Maternal intake of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain of the fetus and infant, when they are breastfed. These beneficial effects are seen with a minimum intake of 200 mg of DHA per day.
Krill oil contains omega-3 in the same form as cells in our body, that is, in the form of phospholipids, so it is incorporated more efficiently than other marine oils (fish or microalgae) that come in the form of triglycerides or ethyl esters.
Phospholipids are the main component of all our cell membranes, and the omega-3s contained in krill oil are in the exact form that the body needs for optimal cellular absorption: in the
form of phospholipids.
PL+ technology improves the performance of oils in the form of triglycerides or ethyl esters, mixing them with phospholipids

Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when administered in adequate quantities, confer a health benefit to the host.
The development of the intestinal microbiota begins in intrauterine life through the placenta and amniotic fluid, and colonization continues during childbirth and breastfeeding.
An adequate population of bacteria facilitates, among other functions, digestive development, the normal absorption of nutrients and prevents other unsuitable bacteria from colonizing that space.
Maternal intake of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain of the fetus and infant, when they are breastfed. These beneficial effects are seen with a minimum intake of 200 mg of DHA
per day.
At this important stage of life, omega-3 and probiotics are very interesting nutrients for both the mother and the fetus and the baby. ProbiTec ® Pregnancy and Lactation combines both nutrients in a single product.
- Specific supplement for pregnant and lactating women.
- Bacterial strains developed by the Copenhagen University Hospital, with more than 20 years of clinical experience in the study of these bacteria.
- Cryogenic ® technology: optimizes the integrity of lactic acid bacteria.
- With DHA, which contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain of the fetus and the infant.
- PL+DHA technology: The phospholipids in krill oil improve the absorption and bioavailability of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA), present in Omegatex® microalgae oil (Schizochytrium sp.)
