What is Quinol10® Forte with PL+?

Quinol10® Forte with PL+ is a dietary supplement designed to improve the absorption of ubiquinol, the active form of coenzyme Q10. It may support normal fertility and reproduction (1), promote healthy energy levels (2), and contribute to proper heart function (3).

It contains Kaneka ubiquinol (Kaneka Quality™), which is combined with PL+ technology: a phospholipid concentrate derived from Antarctic krill oil that enhances the absorption and bioavailability of ubiquinol. It also provides essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). The product is further fortified with folic acid, zinc, copper, vitamin B1 and astaxanthin.

• Folic acid (1) contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.
• Zinc (1) contributes to normal fertility and reproduction, as well as the maintenance of normal testosterone levels.

What is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)?

It is a vitamin-like substance found in all cells in the body that plays a key role in how our organs perform. It is essential for cellular energy production and protects cells against oxidative damage. The body maintains a reserve of CoQ10 in two forms: ubiquinol and ubiquinone.

What is the difference between ubiquinol and ubiquinone?

Ubiquinone is the oxidised form, while ubiquinol is the reduced form with antioxidant capacity. In order for CoQ10 in the form of ubiquinone to be used in cellular energy production, the body must first convert it into ubiquinol. Therefore, when a dietary supplement containing ubiquinol is consumed, it is absorbed more efficiently and rapidly by the body and can exert its effects more quickly. Ubiquinol is a nutrient that has been the subject of extensive scientific research. Researchers worldwide have demonstrated its importance and efficacy for human health.

An Inherently Safe and Innovative Ingredient

Since 1977, the Japanese company Kaneka has been engaged in the commercial production of naturally fermented CoQ10 (ubiquinone), which is bioidentical to the coenzyme naturally synthesised in the human body. The ubiquinol form of CoQ10 presents significant challenges in terms of commercial manufacturing due to the complexity of the process and its propensity to oxidise readily. PL+ technology has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to enhance the absorption and bioavailability of highly lipophilic, poorly water-soluble molecules, such as ubiquinol.

The basis of this technology is the utilisation of phospholipids derived from Antarctic krill oil, which possess a flexible structure capable of optimally “accommodating” different lipophilic compounds by forming micelles. Consequently, lipophilic nutrients can be more efficiently and effectively incorporated into body tissues.
